Abstract:BackgroundHyperglycemia and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) pose a significant risk for cardiovascular diseases and associated complications in individuals with hyperlipidemia. Statin therapy, effective in reducing cholesterol and cardiovascular risks, paradoxically increases incident T2DM risk due to its adverse impact on glucose homeostasis.
