Potential Utilization of Dried Rice Leftover of Household Organic Waste for Poultry Functional Feed

Abstract: Indonesia produced 30 × 10 6 t of waste in 2021; 40 % was organic and 276 × 10 3 t leftover rice. Meanwhile, broiler chicken farmers have been struggling with high feed costs to continue their production. Processing leftover rice into "aking-rice" is environmentally friendly, and it also provides alternative feed for chickens. "Aking-rice" is a type of resistant starch because it has undergone a gelatinization process that works as a synthesis of short-chain fatty acids that positively improve the function of … Show more

“…The digester was then distilled in a distillation unit (Kjeldahl system, Indonesia). It was titrated with 0.2 N Hydrochloric acid HCL, and crude protein was obtained by multiplying the total nitrogen by a conversion factor of 6.25 (Setyobudi et al 2021, Tonda et al, 2022…”

“…Another endeavor made is by administering resistant starch (RS) that is proven effective to improve ileal villi for digestion [28,29]. At days of high environmental temperatures, RS helps to relieve intestinal activities as it is not easily digested [30,31]. Further, RS is able to maximally function as microbial nutrients in organic acid forming [30].…”

“…A source of RS is carbohydrate that has been through heating and cooling procedures. The RS development process is called gelatinization, and the result is also recognized as retrograded starch [32][33][34]31]. One of the feed choices containing RS is dried rice.…”
