Abstract:Catalase (CAT) plays a crucial role in plant responses to environmental stresses and maintaining redox homeostasis. However, its putative heat lability might compromise its activity and function, thus restricting plant thermotolerance. Herein, we verified Arabidopsis CAT3 was of poor thermostability that was then engineered by fusion expression in Escherichia coli. We found that our selected fusion partners, three hyperacidic mini-peptides and the short rubredoxin from hyperthermophile Pyrococcus furiosus, wer… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
