O esterco de poedeira tem sido utilizado como fertilizante; no entanto, a eficiência deste resíduo em suprir nutrientes às plantas é pouco conhecida. Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar o efeito de doses deste esterco no suprimento de nitrogênio (N) e no rendimento de grão (RG) da cultura de trigo. As doses testadas foram (base úmida): 2,8; 4,2; 5,6 e 11,2 t ha-1, comparadas a tratamentos sem esterco (testemunha) mas com ou sem adição de uréia. Os últimos tratamentos foram complementados com fonte mineral de P, K, Ca e S cujas quantidades foram equivalentes às adicionadas com 5,6 t ha-1 de esterco. O experimento foi conduzido em Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, em um Latossolo Vermelho. O delineamento foi em blocos casualizados (quatro repetições). O esterco supriu a necessidade de N do trigo principalmente com a aplicação de 2,8 t ha-1. Nesta dose e no tratamento com uréia o acúmulo máximo de N na planta foi no florescimento possibilitando, então, maior mobilização de N para o grão, acréscimo do número de espigas por área e de grãos por espiga e de RG. A aplicação de 2,8 t ha-1 de esterco foi suficiente para suprir N à cultura do trigo proporcionando RG semelhante ao obtido com a aplicação de uréia.

The demand for kenaf in the world increases rapidly by the years. Cultivation of the crop in Malaysia is a challenging task, especially when kenaf is grown on sandy soils with low fertility, such as the BRIS Soils (Beach Ridges Interspersed with Swales). A pot study was conducted in a glasshouse at Universiti Putra Malaysia to evaluate the potential of inorganic and organic fertilizers or their combination for growing kenaf on very sandy BRIS Soils, using variety V36. There were altogether sixteen treatments: (T Results showed that application of inorganic material or organic fertilizer in combination with chemical fertilizer (T 2 and T 16 ) improved soil fertility, which are reflected by the increase inexchangeable K, Ca and Mg, CEC, total N, total C and available P. The highest kenaf growth was observed in T 15 treatment.Application of biochar, zeolite or chicken manure alone on the soils did not result in better kenaf growth compared to the control. Zeolite and biochar should be applied with other fertilizers or organic substrate to obtain a positive yield of crop and increase the soil properties. In addition, more studies on the application of chicken manure at different ratios should be conducted to obtain the best yield. Combination treatment, T 15 (NPK + biochar + zeolite) can be suggested to the farmers especially cultivation of kenaf on sandy BRIS soil in order to obtain the best kenaf growth performance and indirectly reduce excessive use of chemical fertilizers.

“…The available N content amongst the IMBA categories were increased in the order growth boosters > partial replacements > total replacements. The higher available N from IMBAs used either as growth boosters or partial replacements are possibly due to synergy (Bokhtiar and Sakurai, 2005;Boateng et al, 2006 increased N content in heavier-textured soil of Potchefstroom ecotope. The available N content from both total replacement of NPK plots were insignificant than in the NPK check plots and was also consistently lower than the other active ingredients of IMBAs due to their slower N releasing potential (Belay et al, 2002).…”
