Abstract:In Alzheimer's disease (AD), reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays a crucial role, which is produced from molecular oxygen with extracellular deposited amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregates through the reduction of a Cu 2+ ion. In the presence of a small amount of redox-active Cu 2+ ion, ROS is produced by the Aβ-Cu 2+ complex as Aβ peptide alone is unable to generate excess ROS. Therefore, Cu 2+ ion chelators are considered promising therapeutics against AD. Here, we have designed and synthesized a series of Schiff base de… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
