Abstract: Design and method: Cross-sectional studyWe enrolled 39 SLE subjects (mean age 39 years). Each patient underwent assessment of ultrasonographic renal RI, IP, measurement of aPWV through oscillometric device, and ultrasound evaluation of carotid IMT.Results: IR correlated significantly with aortic PWV(r: 0,44; p = 0,006), and with carotid IMT(r: 0,46; p = 0,003) in the study population. Conclusions:Our results seems to suggest that, as previously demonstrated in other populations, the RI may be considered as a m… Show more

“…Kruchinina et al. studied the electrical properties of RBC including deformation amplitude, dipole moment, polarizability, and membrane capacitance [143]. The authors then correlated these properties with rheological disturbances in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.…”

“…The magnitude of the electric fields was 10 5 V/m, and the electric field gradient produced by the electrode was 10 11 V/m 2 . It was concluded that worsening rheological disturbances in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus had decreased the RBC deformation amplitude, dipole moment, and polarizability at 1 MHz [143].…”
