The hands are washed.The head of the family sits up, picks up a loaf of unleavened bread, and speaks the blessing over it: You are blessed, our God, ruler of the world; you make bread come out from the earth.

The Passover Feast of the New CovenantThe family responds: Amen! 12The head of the family breaks the bread in pieces for each person, and passes them to all present. The head of the family then takes the cup of wine with the right hand, raises it about a hand's breadth off the table, and says: You are blessed, our God, ruler of the world, creator of the fruit of the vine.
The family responds: Amen! 13The cup is refilled during the meal as desired. 14 Members of the family say for themselves the blessing over the Passover-offering and the festival-offering: You are blessed, our God, ruler of the world, who hallowed us by your commandments and commanded us to eat the Passover-offering. The only utensil used for eating is the bread. If the festival-offering is served, it is eaten before the Passover-offering. The bitter herbs are eaten with the unleavened bread and Passover-offering as one morsel. 1( The hands are washed during the meal whenever necessary.
