Pre-operative pregnancy testing (POPT) and the undiagnosed pregnancy rate in an elective gynaecology surgery population

Abstract: Background: Surgery in a female with an undiagnosed pregnancy has recognized teratogenic and disruptive embryo/fetal risks. What is the incidence of an undiagnosed pregnancy in females undergoing elective surgery in an urban hospital?
