Abstract:Two significant earthquakes of magnitude ML 4.6 and 4.5 occurred on 18 January and 3 December 2021 in the central region of the Yellow Sea, respectively. The earthquakes occurred beneath the Gunsan sedimentary basin at about 10 km depth with a strike-slip faulting mechanism on nodal planes striking northwest–southeast (NW–SE) and north-northeast–south-southwest (NNE–SSW).
