This study aimed to identify the use of digital learning tools by faculty members in universities in the teaching process and the challenges facing them. The study sample consisted of (380) faculty members selected in the random stratified way. The study relied on the descriptive approach to verify its objectives, develop a questionnaire tool, and ensure its sincerity and stability. The results indicated that faculty members in Jordanian universities used digital learning tools to a high degree, and there were no differences due to the impact of the university's classification in all fields and in the total degree, except for the student's skills in the digital environment. The differences came in favor of official universities, and there were statistically significant differences due to the impact of the college's classification in all fields and in the total degree. The differences came in favor of scientific colleges, and there were differences due to the impact of the academic level in all fields and in the total degree. The differences came in favor of the doctorate. The results also showed that the challenges facing the study sample when using digital learning were high.The study recommended that the Jordanian Ministry of Research and Higher Education should adopt the integration of digital learning environments according to the technical, educational and scientific foundations and follow the theories of teaching and learning when integrated, andwork to modernize the infrastructure in Jordanian universities and develop it according to the results of this study, and avoid future challenges that may face the application of digital learning.

BackgroundToday, computational thinking (CT), which is considered to be a form of literacy, has taken its place in the ICT curriculum of many countries at the K‐12 level. Therefore, there is a need for more evidence with regards to a theoretical and practical understanding of CT skills’ development of K‐12 students.ObjectivesThe purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of an unplugged coding course on primary school students’ development of CT skills, differences in their CT skills in terms of socio‐demographics such as gender, computer ownership, daily computer use, and home Internet access, and the relationship between their CT and 21st century skills.MethodsThe research was based a quasi‐experimental design with one‐group pretest‐posttest with follow‐up. The CT skills of 212 third and fourth grade students at a public primary school of Turkey were measured with a CT Skills Test before, after, and about ten weeks following having attended an unplugged coding course.Results and ConclusionsThe results of the study showed that the unplugged coding course statistically significantly improved the participants’ CT skills, specifically in algorithmic design, abstraction, evaluation, decomposition, and generalization. Moreover, the findings indicated that primary school students’ CT skills were not associated with their socio‐demographics. In addition, the students’ CT skills were found to be positively and statistically significantly correlated with their collaboration and communication skills.ImplicationsThis study contributes to understanding of the effects of unplugged activities on the development of primary school students’ CT skills, which is beneficial to teaching practices for CT skills in the primary education.

The Tourism Village Network established by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in Indonesia is a challenge for the selected villages to become tourist villages. The determination of this tourist village requires the readiness of various parties, namely the community and officials in the village. Thus, the need for cultural learning resources for the community becomes important. This study aims to analyze the need for smart classes as a source of cultural learning in the Cisaat tourist village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Researchers collected data through participatory observation by observing the habits of the people in Cisaat Village in understanding their culture. In addition, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted to identify the need for smart classes as a source of learning for the culture of the Cisaat community. Thus, the FGD was conducted for 85 min with two village officials, two elementary school teachers, two junior high school teachers, two high school teachers, and three members of a tourism awareness group in Cisaat village. This study uses thematic analysis to analyze the data. Data analysis was carried out after data in the field had been collected. The results of this study indicate the condition of cultural learning resources, the condition of facilities and infrastructure as a means of supporting learning resources, and the need for smart classes as learning resources in Cisaat Tourism Village. The implication of this research is to strengthen that to increase the readiness of the community in tourist villages, namely by building smart classes as a source of cultural learning. Thus, the results of this study can be used as a source that supports the development of research based on local resources.
