Predicting the cost of COVID-19 treatment and its drivers in Indonesia: analysis of claims data of COVID-19 in 2020-2021

Abstract: Background Recent Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic shows that health system, particularly hospital care, takes the highest toll on COVID-19. As hospital gets to manage the surge of COVID-19 cases, it is important to standardize treatment standard and package for COVID-19. Until recently, in Indonesia, COVID-19 curative package in hospital is paid using a retrospective payment system (claims system) using a per-diem rate. Quantifying standard cost using an established retrospective cla… Show more

“…The cost of inpatient care had a considerable influence on the cost-effectiveness of both booster doses and oral antivirals in our analysis. Estimates for the cost of caring for patients hospitalised with COVID-19 were from data collected during 2020 and 2021 [41]. Changing standards of care, such as reduced requirements for isolation, may reduce these costs over time.…”

“…This checklist has been used in other studies as well 12 or it has been cited in other studies. [13][14][15] In the present study, 20 hospitals in Hamadan province of Iran were examined to evaluate the response in COVID-19 conditions. The average total response score of the hospitals in the province was 62.25 points (minimum of 35 and maximum of 72), about 13 points less than the maximum achievable (75 points), suggesting the relative readiness of hospitals in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province.…”
