Abstract:In January 2021, we published an article titled “Predictive Processing and Developmental Language Disorder” in the
Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research
. The current commentary provides an important extension to this work. Specifically, we aim to head off the suggestion that a child's “predictive capacity” may be trained independently of improving the quality of their long-term speech representations.
