Abstract:The successive ferrite () + pearlite (P) transformations from austenite () were modeled to predict the presence of bainite in as-forged medium-carbon manganese steels. The kinetics of diffusional transformations were calculated based on classical nucleation and growth theory coupled with CALPHAD multi-component thermodynamics. The description of the growth rate of proeutectoid-includes a time dependence due to the carbon enrichment in the remaining . The / interface was assumed to be in negligible-partitioned … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
