“…Generally, chatter in metal cutting operations originates from the dynamic interaction effect between structural and cutting dynamics [82,83]. Among the numerous detection and control strategies for chatter in automatic manufacturing systems introduced in the literature, methods based on dynamic cutting force re drawing more and more attention for their intrinsic relationship with dynamic systems.…”

“…This paper presents a dynamic characteristic-based fuzzy adaptive control algorithm for overcoming the defect of the experience-based control rule and stabling the machining process. The research on the relation between the cutting force and the motor current [5,19,20] proved that the change of the spindle motor current value reflects the cutting force well and the cutting force obtained by measuring the spindle motor current is reasonable and feasible. Therefore this paper selects the spindle motor current instead of cutting force as the condition monitoring parameters.…”

“…The cutting tests conducted on the machining center verified the accuracy of the prediction model and observed the chatter phenomenon caused by different dominant modes. Kim et al [31] proposed a dynamic ball-end milling force model, and developed software for calculation of cutting shapes and predicting dynamic cutting force in general CNC machining and single-track machining. The frequency spectrum of chatter during ball-end milling can be detected.…”
