Prediction of fracture toughness due to delamination in cross-ply composite laminates considering interlaminar and intralaminar cracking and inhomogeneous fiber-matrix modeling
Abstract:In this study, a finite element strategy is implemented for more accurate simulation of nonlinear failure behavior in multidirectional laminated composites. The considered approach is based on the parameters which could affect the SERR2. Accordingly, interaction between delamination and matrix cracking as well as mixed stress distribution around the fiber due to mismatch in properties of adjacent plies with different fiber angle orientation influence the strain energy release rate. Thus, in the present researc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
