Prediction of Overall Energy Consumption of Data Centers in Different Locations

Abstract: The use of big data leads to higher demands for hyperscale data centers (HDCs) in terms of the scale and quantity required for data storage and processing. Before the construction of an HDC, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze the economic budget according to the energy requirements and potential energy cost. We propose a global energy consumption prediction framework based on the power usage effectiveness (PUE) calculation that considers all heat sources and power consumption. The framework integrates … Show more

“…The calculation of the requirements may be complex and require special software [28]. Consequently, the power consumption of the cooling system in data centers can also be complex to calculate [29]. Despite this, if the cooling PUE is known, the power consumption of the cooling system can then at a time t be calculated as…”

“…Since 2008, India has benefited from $977 million in private equity and other strategic investments in the datacenter sector. Of this, $396 million arrived in 2020 up until September [6][7][8]. The market for datacenters is predicted to be driven by an increase in data traffic, government-backed initiatives, and looming data sovereignty regulations.…”

“…The authors of [36] has conducted a systematic examination of the present status of software solution that helps in reduction of energy consumption in data centers and also stated the impact of data centers on the environment. In [37] the use of big data, cloud, and IoT leads to higher demands for hyperscale data centers (HDCs) for data storage and processing. The analysis of 60 regions done by the researchers has predicted the overall increase in the energy consumption of HDCs, carbon emissions and electricity costs, that focus the purpose of the survey.…”
