Predictive road safety impact assessment of traffic management policies and measures

Abstract: In recent research the CONDUITS performance evaluation framework for traffic management and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was developed, consisting of a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the strategic themes of traffic efficiency, safety, pollution reduction and social inclusion. Follow-up work has concentrated on integrating the developed CONDUITS KPIs with microscopic traffic simulation. The outcome has been a predictive evaluation tool for traffic management and ITS, called CONDUITS_DST, in… Show more

“…Increasing the volume of motorized traffic may increase the number of conflicts that lead to an accident and the risk of a cyclist getting injured or even killed in an accident is rising [7]. For this reason, many studies refer to the accident rate, which not only considers the number of accidents but also the daily traffic volume (DTV) [8,9].…”

“…It is necessary to touch in more detail on the systems of transport tracking or automated transport management systems, as these systems play a key role in the current government contract, as well as affect the quality and safety of passenger transportation. To date, there is no set of key performance evaluation indicators for the selection of TM CVM, therefore, it is difficult to objectively evaluate technical control systems [29][30][31][32].…”
