Predictive Torque Control - A solution for mono inverter-dual parallel PMSM system

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to present a Predictive Torque Control (PTC) algorithm for controlling system composed by two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) operating in parallel, fed by a single power inverter. In this system, it is expected that both motors will get the same speed even if they have different conditions of load torque. The principle of PTC algorithm is considered as follows: a model of the system is used to predict the system behavior under a set of configurations of a power invert… Show more

“…If the 𝑖 𝑑2 of ( 6) is substituted for the 𝑖 𝑑2 of ( 8), then the latter can be expressed as an expression of 𝑖 𝑑1 only. Through the partial differentiation of this expression, as shown in (9), we can obtain the conditional expression for CLM. By rearranging (9) for 𝑖 𝑑1 , we obtain (10)(𝑖 𝑑1,𝐶 𝐿 𝑀 ).…”

“…Classical Predictive Torque Control (PTC Classic) [2] evaluates the eight real voltage vectors of a three-phase twolevel inverter through a predefined cost function. In this function, the torque and flux are considered to optimize the operation of system.…”

“…Dive systems comprising multi-phase and multi-motor induction machines powered by a single inverter are studied in [15][16][17]. Unlike the three-phase multi-machine system, multi-phase multi-machine systems supplied by a single inverter can be connected in series [18,19] and in parallel [13,14,17,20], which allows independent control of each machine. In this paper, two induction machines connected in parallel powered by a single inverter as presented in Figure 1 [21] were considered.…”
