Predictive Value of 99MTC-hynic-toc Scintigraphy in Lung Neuroendocrine Tumor Diagnosis

Abstract: Background: Νeuroendocrine tumors of the lungs are rare arising in the thymus and gastro-entero-pancreatic tract and belonging to foregut of neuroendocrine tumors. The aim of the present prospective study was to estimate the potential impact of single-photon emission computed tomography somatostatin receptor scintigraphy using 99mTc-Tektrotyd on diagnosis, treatment response, and prognosis in patients with neuroendocrine tumors of the lungs. Methods: Thirty-six patients… Show more

“…This is in accordance with our results considering grade and stage of our investigated patients. Similar to our findings, SRS nor the Krenning score in SRS in general did not relate significantly to progression-free survival[ 29 ] nor can be used as prognostic markers.…”

“…This imaging technique is used in identifying primary LNETs as well as local and distant metastasis. 99mTc-Tektrotyd has a high affinity for somatostatin receptors, making it a markedly improved option in detecting well-differentiated NETs (67). However, for low-grade NETs, 68Ga-DOTANOC positron emission tomography (PET-CT) is markedly more sensitive.…”

“…Radiopharmaceuticals labeled with 99mTc were developed posteriorly, aiming to use gamma-emitting isotopes of higher image quality and easier handling. The [99mTc] EDDA-HYNIC-Thr3-octreotide (Tektrotyd ® ), represents an alternative to Octreoscan ® adding several advantages such as lower effective dose, easier preparation and speed in the acquisition of the study [ 15 , 16 ] ( Figure 3 ).…”
