Predictors of 1-year outcome in very old patients managed in a Heart Failure Unit after an acute decompensation

Abstract

Key summary points Aim We analyzed the predictors of prognosis in very old HF patients managed in a Heart Failure Unit after an acute decompensation. Findings In a very old cohort of patients (mean age 89 years), those living alone and with an EVEREST score > 4 had a poor prognosis with a steeper descendent Kaplan–Meier curve during 1-year follow-up. Message Residual congestion and social isolation as living alone identify those patients with high risk of 1-year death. Graphical abstract
