Abstract

PREFACEphysics-based powder and melt pool modeling as well as the microstructure modeling and the overall thermomechanically coupled simulation framework at the macroscale are covered.Material modeling and, in particular, the accurate modeling of phase changes during selective laser melting is also addressed in [3]. The main goal of the model presented therein is to predict the process-induced irreversible strains as accurately as possible on a sub-macro level. The results obtained by the related simulations are then to be used as input for simulations at the macroscale in terms of the inherent strain method.
