Purpose: The aim of the study was to assess the impact of endometriosis on subsequent pregnancy and delivery.Methods: retrospective analysis by questionnaire / interview of cases (endometriosis laparoscopically removed / child wish) vs. controls (endometriosis laparoscopically excluded / child wish) from the University Hospital Muenster, Germany, treated between 2009 and 2016; analysis of pregnancy rate, mode of delivery and complications using Clavien-Dindo-classification, role of deep infiltrating endometriosis using ENZIAN classification; data analysis using t-test with p < 0.050% being considered significant.Results:Identification of 973 consecutive cases vs 789 consecutive controls; inclusion of 501 cases: (pregnancy rate 57.5%) and 219 controls (pregnancy rate 60.7%). Primary cesarean section: trend to more in controls (p=0.202). Secondary cesarean section: trend to more in cases (p=0.111). Miscarriage: more in controls (p=0.038). DIE with risks equal to other types of endometriosis. Adenomyosis and bladder endometriosis: increased risk of secondary cesarean section. Pregnancy: more bleeding (p=0.005), early uterine contractions (p=0.012), cervical insufficiency (p=0.042), slightly more pre-eclampsia (p=0.080), amniorrhexis (p=0.220). Delivery: more bleeding (p=0.007), vaginal tear (p=0.009), symphysis diastasis (p=0.022), less episiotomy (p=0.002), prolonged labour (p=0.011). Puerperium: more bleeding (p=0.022), infectious complications p=0.007). Complications more in cases (Clavien Dindo I (p=0.005) or II (p=0.010); controls slightly more III (p=0.055)). Cases vs published control groups from general population: more placenta praevia (p=0.042), placental abruption, miscarriage (p<0.001; relative risk 2.23 (1.84-2.70)), delivery by cesarean section (p<0.001).Conclusion: Complications during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium occur more frequently in cases. The risk of miscarriage and delivery by cesarean section is increased. Endometriosis patients should receive counselling with regard to pregnancy and delivery. They should have access to specialized centers of care. Recommendations regarding mode of delivery should not exclude vaginal delivery also in cases of deep infiltrating endometriosis

Aims. Bladder cancer (BCa) is a common cancer in North America and Europe that carries considerable morbidity and mortality. A reliable biomarker for early detection of the bladder is crucial for improving the prognosis of BCA. In this meta-analysis, we examine the diagnostic role of the angiogenin (ANG) protein in patients’ urine with bladder neoplasm. Methods. We performed a systematic literature search using ScienceDirect, Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Embase, up to 10th October 2020 databases. Meta-Disc V.1.4 and Comprehensive Meta-Analysis V.2.2 software calculated the pooled specificity, sensitivity, area under the curve (AUC), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), positive likelihood ratio (LR+), negative likelihood ratio (LR-), Q ∗ index, and summary receiver-operating characteristic (SROC) for the role of ANG as a urinary biomarker for BCa patients. Results. Four case-control studies were included with 656 participants (417 cases and 239 controls) in this meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity of 0.71 (95% CI: 0.66–0.75), specificity of 0.78 (95% CI: 0.73–0.81), LR+ of 3.34 (95% CI: 2.02–5.53), LR- of 0.37 (95% CI: 0.32–0.44), DOR of 9.99 (95% CI: 4.69–21.28), and AUC of 0.789 and Q ∗ index of 0.726 demonstrate acceptable diagnostic precision of ANG in identifying BCa. Conclusion. This meta-analysis showed that ANG could be a fair biomarker for the diagnosis of BCa patients.

Background: Depression and sexual dissatisfaction are among the most common psychological factors caused by infertility. Infertility is an essential topic in the Iranian culture, and many studies have already investigated it. Objectives: This study aimed to compare the depression severity and sexual dissatisfaction between fertile and infertile women in Iran. Methods: This case-control study enrolled 180 infertile women and 540 fertile women in 2019. The participants were selected through multistage stratified and cluster sampling methods. For each infertile woman, three fertile women were randomly selected. The data collection instruments consisted of a demographic form, the Depression Inventory Scale (Second Edition), and the Linda Berg Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire. The multivariate marginal model and SPSS version 21 were used for data analysis at a significance level of 0.05. Results: After adjustment for confounding variables, the marginal model showed that the odds of depression increased by approximately 21.305 times among cases compared to controls (OR = 21.305, 95% CI = 14.75 - 32.021, P < 0.001). This model also found that by moderating the effects of confounding variables, infertility increased the odds of low sexual satisfaction by approximately 15.560 times (OR = 15.560, 95% CI = 5.089 - 47.571, P < 0.001). The chi-square test showed a significant relationship between infertility treatment and depression severity in infertile women (P = 0.001). Conclusions: The overall depression severity and sexual dissatisfaction were higher in the infertile group than in the fertile one. Most cases of severe depression were observed in IVF clinics with higher depression levels. The study may help reveal infertility's psychological and social aspects in Iran.
