Preliminary Assessment of Grain Losses for Paddy Combine Harvester in Koperasi Felcra Seberang Perak, Malaysia

Abstract: Paddy is an essential plant in Malaysia that is at risk of being lost during harvesting. This study was investigated the grain loss of the paddy during harvesting process by using combine harvester. The research was conducted at Felcra Seberang Perak, Malaysia. The data collection attempted to investigate the percentage of grain losses during harvesting season. The collected data contain of area (acre/hectare) for three blocks of paddy for three lines. It was done with two blocks, which involve a three line an… Show more

“…It is estimated that about 80% of grain harvest losses occur at the combine's header, which can significantly impact the crop's net return on the harvest [18]. Reference [19] reported a 1.39% grain loss in their study, which led to income losses of up to USD 29.26 (RM 120.55) per hectare. This demonstrates that farmers incur significant losses during harvesting operations, resulting in a lower (decreased) profit.…”

“…Through analysis, it has been determined that both electro-hydraulic control methods and motor control methods are extensively used in agricultural machinery and have been intensively investigated [18][19][20][21][22]. Consequently, there is a clear lack of research on the control method for automatic row alignment of corn harvesters, and it is necessary to design a set of control methods with high accuracy and low cost that are suitable for automatic row alignment of corn harvesters.…”
