Abstract:The preliminary design results of a 1-MW, Kuband gyrotron traveling wave amplifier (gyro-TWA) are presented. Operating at the second cyclotron harmonic of the TE 11 mode, the amplifier characterizes good stability even in the case of no distributed losses loaded, which could potentially allow it to be operated at high average power.
