Preliminary model of porphyry copper deposits

Abstract: increases toward the causative skarn-forming pluton with the distal pyroxene zones containing more iron-and manganese-rich pyroxenes than proximal zones (Meinert and others, 2005). In some districts (for example, Christmas, Arizona, and Battle Mountain, Nevada), more copper is recovered from calc-silicate rocks than from the associated intrusive rocks. Polymetallic replacement deposits occur in carbonate-bearing units peripheral to porphyry-style mineralization. At Bingham, Utah (Babcock and others, 1995), and… Show more

“…In the porphyry systems most of the ore mineralizations containing intrusives, have calc-alkaline character. In general, in the volcanic and pyroclastic rocks, particularly in andesitic, dacitic, rhyodacitic rocks and in their subvolcanic equivalents, veins, breccias and metasomatisms of the sulphur bearing minerals are present (Sillitoe, 1972;Mitchell andBell, 1973, Sillitoe, 1973;Aral and Erler, 1981;Ayhan, 1991, Sillitoe andBerger et al, 2008;Sillitoe, 2010). The main mineralization body is found enclosed by a pyrite rich shell.…”

“…This evidence map has been classified using C-A fractal model which is presented in Figure 5. Hydrothermal fluids broadly effect rocks and produce specific alteration zones including potassic, phyllic, argillic and propyllitic in porphyry copper systems (Alimohammadi et al, 2015;Beane, 1982;Berger et al 2008;Byron and Berger 2008;Lowell and Guilbert, 1970;Meyer and Hemley, 1967;Silitoe, 2010;Sillitoe 2010).…”

“…The conventional geological methods to identify mineralized zones in porphyry deposits are mineralogical and petrographical studies (Schwartz 1947;Lowell 1968;Lowell & Guilbert 1970;Beane 1982;Cox & Singer 1986;Sillitoe 1997;Melfos et al 2002;Berger et al 2008). Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope studies (e.g.…”
