Preliminary Planning Efficiency Evaluation for School Buildings Considering the Tradeoffs of Moop and Planning Preferences

Abstract: Seismic resistance and cost effectiveness are often two important building planning objectives for architects. However, these objectives nearly always share a negative correlation with each other, which can cause planning delays and confusion. The conflict between these two is a Multi-Objective Optimization Problem (MOOP). Besides, building planning often encompasses both subjective and objective factors. However, most current efficiency evaluation methods focus on the latter and underemphasize the former. Cur… Show more

“…In addition to NCREE, Cheng and Chen (2011) presented an optimal planning model for school buildings that integrates fuzzy theory, indifference curve and efficient frontier to provide a paragon for architects to plan future school buildings. Cheng and Chen (2014) developed a new planning efficiency evaluation approach that integrates indifference curve, efficient frontier and data envelopment analysis to find benchmarks for inefficient school buildings at preliminary planning stage. Di Ludovico et al (2018) investigated on 1,514 school building structures in the aftermath of the 2016 Central Italy earthquake sequence.…”

“…This property is ideal for applications particularly in the field of mass services and the evaluation of units within the branch network. Therefore, this method is quite frequently used in banking and insurance sectors (for example Grmanová 2013;Hajiagha et al 2013;Ho, Zhu 2004;Kočišová 2014;Kumar, Gulati 2010), real estate and construction sectors (Jin et al 2015;Horta et al 2016;Cheng, Chen 2014;yang et al 2016;Hu, Liu 2016) when evaluating universities (for example nazarko, Šaparauskas 2014; Rosenmayer 2014; Žižka 2015), hospitals (for example Dlouhý 2015) and transport enterprises (for example Klieštik 2009;Lin et al 2012).…”
