Preliminary Report on Basement Complex Rocks of Iowa

Abstract: Crystalline basement rock has been encountered in the bot tom-hole samples of about I") wells in Iowa. Fairly detailed stud ies of the samples from most of these wells have been made. Granite is the predominant rock type thus far encountered, fol lowed by diabase in order of abundance.
