Preliminary study of personality traits in Chinese lung cancer patients: Modification by neurotensin receptor 1 polymorphisms

Abstract: This study recruited 148 lung cancer patients and 157 healthy Chinese individuals to evaluate the personality traits of Chinese lung cancer patients using the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire and to investigate the associations between these traits and the rs6090453C/G and rs6011914C/G polymorphisms of the neurotensin receptor 1 gene. The results demonstrated significant differences in the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire total and subscale scores between the 2 groups. Significant differences w… Show more

“…Amplification of gene fragments containing the SNPs rs6090453, rs6011914, and rs2427422 by polymerase chain reaction and subsequent identification of genotypes by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis were carried out as described in our previous studies ( 22 , 34 38 ).…”

“…Therefore, the genes of the NT system may contribute to defense mechanisms by regulating dopamine neurotransmission. Moreover, our team has already demonstrated an association between NTR1 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and personality traits assessed by the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire (TPQ) in Chinese Han subjects ( 22 , 34 ). Therefore, we decided to test the hypothesis that the NTR1 SNPs were associated with defenses.…”

“…22,[24][25][26][27] In this framework, individual personality plays an important role as well. [28][29][30] Personality refers to an individual's enduring and pervasive personal motivation, emotion, interpersonal style, attitudes, and behaviors that are stable over a long time after young adulthood. In relation to cancer, the personality traits have already been investigated.…”
