Premature ovarian insufficiency: a syndrome or diagnosis

Abstract: The article presents modern views on the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) – syndrome which is heterogeneous in the etiology and pathogenesis and has a significant negative impact not only on the reproductive sphere, but also on the quality of life, the overall morbidity and mortality of women.The term “premature ovarian insufficiency” is used today by leading professional societies in the US and Europe and is recommended for use in clinical practice.
