Preparation and characterization of magnetic graphene oxide nanocomposite (GO-Fe3O4) for removal of strontium and cesium from aqueous solutions

Abstract: Magnetic graphene oxide nanocomposites (M-GO) were successfully synthesized by partial reduction co-precipitation method and used for removal of Sr(II) and Cs(I) ions from aqueous solutions. The structures and properties of the M-GO was investigated by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and N2-BET measurements. It is found that M-GO has 2.103 mg/g and … Show more

“…The calculated E value is used to predict the reaction mechanism of the adsorption process. If the E value is less than 8 kJ/mol, it indicates a physical adsorption, while the E value is higher than 8 kJ/mol, the adsorption process is chemical in nature [48]. In our cases, E value is 222 kJ/mol that means adsorption process is chemical in nature for rGO.…”

“…Langmuir isotherm predicts the formation of a monolayer on the adsorbent and assumes that the adsorbed La(III)/Ce(III) ions are homogeneously distributed on the surface of the adsorbent (MPC) [30]. The linear forms of the Langmuir isotherm model are defined by the equation as follows:…”

“…Technological applications of conductive polymers have been observed for electronics, energy devices, biomedical fields, and so on [4] . Graphene is a one-atom-thick two-dimensional nanosheet material [5] . Graphene oxide is simply a graphene derivative having oxygen-containing surface functionalities on graphene nano-sheet.…”
