Preparation and Characterization of Polyamides and Nitrogen‐doped Carbons for Enhanced CO2 Capture

Abstract: Porous organic polymers possessing CO2‐philic moieties have captured attention of the researchers due to efficient adsorption of gas molecules. By the condensation of organic rigid and contorted precursors, amide‐linked organic framework polymers with low skeletal density have been prepared via a cost‐effective protocol. Polyamide chains were synthesized via low temperature condensation of 2,4,6‐triamino‐1,3,5‐triazine with terephthaloyl chloride and isophthaloyl chloride to yield PA‐1 and PA‐2, respectively. … Show more

“…The FTIR spectra showed a prominent single characteristic band in the region 3440-3270 cm −1 which is indicative of secondary amide -N-H [16][17][18] showing the successful condensation of monomers. The second most projecting peak observed was around 1655-1625cm −1 attributed to the stretching frequency of carbonyl of amide group.…”

“…[ 15 ] Detailed examination indicates that the desorption curves of A‐POPs‐L exhibit larger hysteresis loop and low surface area compared with that of A‐POPs. The formation of more mesopores in A‐POPs‐L is attributed that high monomer content in polymerization system causes premature phase separation and the resultant undeveloped network [ 16 ] (Figure 5a,b).…”

“…In polymers with the bridging imino group [94], there are two neighboring single bonds in the polymeric chain; consequently, there is no conjugated bond system threading each CTF molecule and promoting the planarity of the polymeric nanosheet. A molecule most probably should be nonplanar due to the numerous molecular conformations; however, the crystallinity of both CTFs is satisfactory judging from their X-ray patterns, but SSA is rather low (40 and 20 m 2 g −1 ).…”

“…However, there is a drastic disproportion in the number of gas absorption studies: a lot of them are dedicated to carbon dioxide [5,9,34,35,40,49,60,64,66,85,94,140,141,146,148], and the results are rather contradictory. Shao et al [82] state that substances with the maximal nitrogen content, not the largest SSA, are the best sorbents.…”
