Preparation and characterization of polyaniline‐DBSNa/Fe2O3 and polyaniline‐DBSNa/CoO nanocomposites using surfactive dopant sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBSNa)

Abstract: Nanocomposites of polyaniline (PAn) containing nanometer-size Fe 2 O 3 and CoO were synthesized by a chemical method using sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBSNa) as a surfactant. Characteristics of the products such as morphology, particle size, and conductivity were studied. The results indicated that these properties were dependent on the surfactant and the type and content of metallic oxide used. When the concentration of Fe 2 O 3 and CoO increased from 1 to 5 g/L in the PAn-DBSNa/Fe 2 O 3 and PAn-DBSNa/CoO… Show more

“…Generally, increasing the additive, such as Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles, to the reaction solution influences the physical and chemical properties of solution and rate of polymer formation, probably owing to the interaction of additive and polymer . SEM micrographs of pure Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles and the nanocomposite of PPy/Fe 2 O 3 are shown in Figs.…”

“…The bands of the CAH and NAH in-plane deformation vibrations are situated at 1034 cm 21 . The absorptions at 777 and 670 cm 21 are related to the CAH outer bending vibrations [39][40][41]. These results indicate the presence of PAn in the composite.…”

“…In the recent years, different types of polymers, polymer composites, and nanocomposites have been used as adsorbents for heavy metals . Conductive polymers such as polyacetylene, polyaniline, polypyrrole, and polythiophene have attracted a wide range research interest in various applications such as rechargeable batteries , electromagnetic shielding, gas sensors, and removal of heavy metals as ion‐exchanger. To be more specific, polyaniline (PANI) has attracted considerable attention in numerous potential applications because of its unique electrical and optical properties .…”
