Preparation and Characterization of Yttrium-Titanium Citrate Complexes

Abstract: Yttrium, titanium, and yttrium‐titanium citrate complexes are synthesized in ethylene glycol medium at conditions similar to those used when the polymerized complex method (a version of the sol‐gel technology) is applied. The composition and IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectral characteristics of the isolated solid state complexes are studied. Proofs of the mixed metal nature of the bimetallic complexes are reported. The conditions of deprotonation of the alcoholic OH group of the citrate ligands are considered.

“…X-ray diffractogram shows that the sample obtained after desalting of the suspension is not phase homogeneous. Along with the X-ray amorphous phase, typical for many of the citric complexes prepared in similar way [22,24,25], a crystalline phase is also seen. Its identification is impeded due to the intensive halo hiding the eventual reflexes at lower 2Θ values.…”

“…1-3. Their interpretation is based on the data reported in [13][14][15][16]. The intensity ratios of the proton signals of the CH 2 groups in the EG and in the CA in the 1 H -NMR spectra of the samples permit the determination of the degree of the ligand esterification and of the content of the adduct-bonded EG.…”
