Preparation and Properties of Castor Oil-Based Waterborne Polyurethane Terminated

Abstract: Prepared a series of castor oil modified NaHSO3 waterborne blocked polyurethane, discussed the influence on the emulsion stability by C.O. addition amount, R value, DMPA and the influences on latex film mechanical property and water absorption by C.O. content, R value. Then analyzed the characterization by FTIP and DSC, its shown that emulsion is stable when the R value controlled in the range of 1.4~1.8 and the stability will become poor with the increase of C.O. content; and with the increase of R value the … Show more

“…Besides, there is no hydroxyl absorption peak of CO at 3429 cm À 1 , which proves that it has already participated in the reaction. [37,38] The above results confirmed the successfully synthesis of WPU and CWPU. Figure 4 displays the XRD patterns in the range of 2θ = 5 ∼ 80°f or CWPU with different PBA/CO soft chain ratios.…”

“…The absorption peak of the range of 1000∼1300 cm −1 can be attributed to the tensile vibration of C−O−C, of which 1136 cm −1 is the vibration absorption peak of the ether group (C−O−C) in polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether (N120). “…The small peak in the range of 1300 ~ 1500 cm −1 is associated with the bending vibration in the CH plane. 1136 cm −1 is the vibration absorption peak of the ether group (COC) in polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether (N120) 30,31 . The absorption peak around 1040 cm‐1 may be caused by the tensile vibration of the SiOSi bond, 23,32 and XPS test is required to further verify that KH550 is introduced into the CWPU.…”

“…The reason is that the abundance of hydroxyl groups in GG macromolecular chain provides opportunities to form more urethane bonds through the reaction of the OH groups of GG with the NCO groups of IPDI, thereby leading to the increase of the crosslink density and the viscosity of the system. Thus PU molecular chains are not easy to move and the migration of hydrophilic groups to the surface of particles is hindered, resulting in the increase of the particle size . Furthermore, the GWPU emulsion had the good storage stability, and there was no precipitate at room temperature for 6 months.soft segments in polyurethane.…”
