Preparation and properties of some filled poly(vinyl chloride) compositions

Abstract: Different samples of filled poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compositions were formulated from PVC, a polar plasticizer mixture consisting of dioctylphthalate (DOP) and a chlorinated paraffin, and variable proportions of a white filler such as barite, calcium carbonate, kaoline, quartz, or talc; a conductive filler such as High Abrasion Furnace (HAF) carbon black; or a hydrated mineral filler such as aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, or calcium hydroxide. Epoxidized soybean oil as a heat stabilizer and sando… Show more

“…For example, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) blending with a certain amount of epoxidized soybean oil will improve its thermal stability. The flame retardancy of PVC products will be enhanced after adding phosphate plasticizer or chlorinated paraffin . Also, the addition of polyester plasticizer into PVC materials will improve solvent extraction resistance and volatility resistance .…”

“…The flame retardancy of PVC products will be enhanced after adding phosphate plasticizer or chlorinated paraffin. [2][3][4] Also, the addition of polyester plasticizer into PVC materials will improve solvent extraction resistance and volatility resistance. [5][6][7] Branched chains introduced into a polymer chemical structure as internal plasticizer will completely avoid migration of the plasticizer.…”

“…Afterward, in 1,980, various processing methods such as lay‐up techniques, extrusion, pressing, molding, and injection were developed for the incorporation of graphite into polymers . Because of low cost, fine mechanical strength, chemical resistance, easy processability, and fire‐retardant properties, polyvinylchloride (PVC) is one of the most extensively used polymers after polyethylene and polypropylene . PVC is third most frequently used plastic materials in various applications such as pipes, electric cables, flooring, and films materials .…”
