Preparation and Properties of Zinc Diacrylate-Modified Montmorillonite/Rubber Nanocomposite

Abstract: Organo-montmorillonite (OMMT)/nature rubber (NR) nanocomposites were prepared by mixing method. The microstructure of these composites was characterized by SEM and XRD. The effect of OMMT on mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites was investigated in detail. SEM and XRD confirmed the intercalated structure of OMMT/NR nanocomposites. The introduction of a small amount of OMMT greatly improved the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity behavior, which was attributed to the na… Show more

“…It has also been found that zinc-based coagents can establish a strong bond to polar substrates. 41,42 The structural units of hexagonal ferrites are formed from spinel and hexagonal blocks. The coupling forces of ferrite crystals are caused by electrostatic attractions between positive metal ions, which are captured inside the ferrite structure and negative oxygen ions, which are placed at the edge of structural units.…”

“…The study of reaction mechanisms of co‐agents during peroxide curing of rubber compounds has been the subject of ongoing study 35,37,38 . According to some scientific works, 39‐41 zinc based co‐agents can form various types of physical and chemical linkages within the rubber matrix. Moreover, formation of ionic cross‐links and clusters has been suggested, too 42 .…”
