Preparation and structure of oxo-rhenium(V) complexes with 7-azaindole

Abstract: ANNE-MARIE LEBUIS and ANDRE L. BEAUCHAMP. Can. J . Chem. 71, 2060Chem. 71, (1993. Four Re(V) 0x0 compounds were obtained from 7-azaindole (Haza) and ReOCI, (PPh,),: the 0x0-bridged dimer Re,0,Cl,(Ha~a)~ (I), the 0x0-ethoxo lnonomers ReO(OEt)CI,(Haza), (2) and ReO(OEt)Clz(Haza)(PPh3) (3), and the dioxo [ReO,(Ha~a) Introduction mono and dioxo complexes of Re(V) with pyridine and reIn many of the complexes formed by 7-azaindole2 (Haza) lated ligands, have attracted increasing attention in connec-(I), the monoan… Show more

“…The signals are assigned as described earlier (15), using the coupling constants to identify H4 and H6. Coordination to N7 results in downfield shifts on most of the protons, as recently found for Re complexes (19). The largest displacements occur for H4 and H5 (+0.54 and +0.39 ppm, respectively), whereas the H6 proton, close to the coordination site, is barely affected (-0.02 ppm).…”

“…N7-C6 coupling does not appreciably affect bond lengths and angles in the azaindolyl unit, but greater differences are found in the azaindolium ring (14). The bond lengths are increased by -0.02 A in the C(16)-N(17)-C(18)-C (19) region, whereas N(l1)-C (18) is shortened by the same amount. Also, the angle at N(17) in the six-membered ring increases by 3.0°, those at C(16) and C(18) decrease by 2.3 and 4.3", respectively, whereas remote angles undergo smaller changes keeping the ring roughly planar: +IS0, C(19); +2.1°, C(1.5).…”
