Preparation and use of N-acetyl-α-amino acids

Abstract: N-acetyl derivatives of L-glutamine, L-proline, and 4-hydroxy-L-proline were synthesized in aqueous solutions with acetic anhydride as the acetylating agent. The resulting compounds were used as medicinal substances.

“…68-95-1, shown in Figure ) is an N -acetyl derivative of l -proline, which has wide application in medicine and is commonly utilized as a biologically active supplement . It can also act as an intermediate for synthesizing pharmaceuticals for preventing and treating some disorders and syndromes associated with the nervous, vascular, musculoskeletal, or cutaneous systems . In laboratories, it could play a role of a simple model for the secondary structure of proline-containing peptides. , NALP can be acetylated from l -proline via a standard method, or in the environment of acetic acid, or by the action of acetic anhydride on aqueous solutions of the products of the alkaline hydrolysis of gelatin followed by extraction. , However, these methods may result in the production of many byproducts.…”

In the practical process of production, the crude products of NALP with impurities, intermediate products, and byproducts may limit its application in many fields and enhance the difficulty in the subsequent treatment of filtration and downstream operation .…”

“…At the same time, they exist in a molecular, non-ionized form in the gas phase [8]. Even though amino acids have attracted the attention of researchers in recent decades [9][10][11][12], some details of their thermochemical behavior have been poorly studied so far, compared to other classes of nitrogen-containing organic substances. There are few reliable data on the thermodynamics of evaporation for amino acids in the literature.…”
