Preparation, morphology, and properties of conducting polyaniline‐grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes/epoxy composites

Abstract: Polyaniline-grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (PANI-g-MWNTs)/epoxy composites were prepared by solution blending and mould casting. Transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, electrical conductivity measurement, and tensile and flexural measurements were used to characterize the morphology, thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties of the composites. The results showed that MWNTs were encapsulated by conducting dodecyl … Show more

“…The lower volume resistivity of the silanized composites may be a result of the formation of a continuous network structure caused by homogeneous dispersibility of CNTs between the carbon fibers. Xu et al [126] studied the electrical properties of conducting epoxy/PANI-g-MWCNT composites. The electrical conductivity for neat epoxy is 2.848 Â 10 À13 S/cm.…”

“…This can be attributed to the strong covalent bonds formed between the amino groups on the CNT surfaces and the epoxy matrix, which resulted in improved mechanical properties. Xu et al [126] studied the tensile strength of conducting epoxy/polyanilinegrafted CNT (PAni-g-CNT) composites. As shown in Fig.…”
