Preparation of a TPU-Based Flexible Stab-Resistant Composite Membrane Filled with SiO2 and SBR Nanoparticles

Xuelin Sun,
Ruyi Ji,
Yan Zhang
et al.

Abstract: Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), which are flexible and elastic, have a great application space in the field of flexible stab-resistant material. Although the performance of a pure TPU film is limited, it can be improved by incorporating particles and stacking with fabrics. In this paper, rigid particle SiO 2 and flexible particle SBR, which were modified by the silane coupling agent, were selected as fillers to reinforce the TPU membrane together to enhance stab-resistance. Then, the TPU membrane was stack… Show more

“…In the second strategy, elastic materials, including films, knitted fabrics, and nonwovens, are composited with other inelastic fabrics via thermal bonding, needle punching, , and spun lace . Among them, during the needle-punching process, fibers are mechanically entangled without any hazardous chemical, instead, they bond along the thickness direction under the physical force exerted by the needles . Hence, the needle-punching process is a clean, high-speed, and economical manufacturing technique for creating composite fabric from various multifunctional fiber webs, such as fibrous and filament webs.…”
