Preparation of acacia‐stabilized silver nanoparticles: A green approach

Abstract: We report a facile approach for the spontaneous formation of silver nanoparticles in the presence of gum acacia polymer (a natural polymer) without the addition of any typical reducing agent under mild conditions. Silver nanoparticles ($ 5 nm) have been obtained by the mixing of equal amounts of 0.5 wt % aqueous solutions of acacia and silver nitrate. The formation of silver nanoparticles has been confirmed with ultraviolet-visible, Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectro… Show more

“…Similarly, the green or environment-friendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has been reported using seed/plant extracts, microorganisms, plant latex, and biopolymers. (11)(12)(13)(14) The quest for finding other effective and user-friendly route/source of green synthesis/material made researchers find and explore other plants that have medicinal values.…”

“…S9, Table S1). Shift in the absorbance peaks from 1426 to 1398 cm 21 suggests the binding of Ag ions with carbonyl groups of GG 55 . However, the shift in the alcoholic groups (1046 to 1024 cm 21 ) suggest the reduction of the silver ions by the oxidation of the hydroxyl and carbonyl groups.…”
