Preparation of Ag‐AZO Nanocomposite Powder Compact for RF Magnetron Sputtering Target Application

Abstract: Octylamine-coated silver nanoparticles with an average size of 10 nm were synthesized and added to the AZO powder as fillers to increase the density of the sintered target. The resulting Ag-AZO nanocomposite powder was formed into compacts by a uniaxial pressing process. It was found that the addition of octylamine-coated silver nanoparticles can increase the density of AZO powder compacts by~4% after sintering. The optimum content of silver addition is about 0.13 wt%. It is suggested that the melted silver fi… Show more

“…Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) has many advantages over indium-tin oxide (ITO) as a transparent conducting oxide owing to its low cost, abundance, high thermal stability and absence of toxicity [1]. Zinc oxide with an addition of 2 wt% Al 2 O 3 is regarded as a potential substitute for ITO due to its versatility [2]. At presently, the manufacture of AZO ceramics have received significant attention because of their applicability as commercial magnetron sputtering targets for film deposition [1][2][3][4][5][6][7].…”
