Preparation of Aluminumtriethoxide by Application of Aluminum Corrosion

Abstract: Aluminumtriethoxide were obtained when aluminum powder was refluxed in dehydrated ethanol containing aluminum chloride for 10 ks. It is shown that aluminumtriethoxide powder made in our laboratory coincided with that supplied in commercial market by similar pattern of XRD-analysis, particle size distribution analysis and particle morphology observation. It is considered that aluminumtriethoxide in our laboratory was electrochemically interpreted as corrosion product which has been oxidized in ethanol containin… Show more

“…We used grazing incidence techniques (w = 5°) to reduce the x-ray penetration depth to <50 mm to avoid measurements of the Al 2 O 3 heating stage. The amorphous starting materials transform to g-Al 2 O 3 at around 750°to 800°C, as expected (19). SEM images of the g-Al 2 O 3 nanowires produced by heat treatment at 1000°C do not show any signs of pulverization or notable microstructure changes compared to the initial Al(EtO) 3 samples (Fig.…”

“…Their large full width at half maximum gives an estimate of the grain size of only ~1.5 nm for the (001) peak, which is considered to be x-ray amorphous. The mostly amorphous nature of the produced Al(EtO) 3 is typical (18,19). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis conducted on both the nanowire samples and the commercially produced materials confirmed the Al(EtO) 3 composition of the nanowires (fig.…”

“…Comparing the weld bead portion with the nonwelded portions on both sides, the corrosion in the weld bead portion is mild. In addition, structural comparison shows a substantial precipitate of what can be assumed to be Al 6 Mn in the nonwelded portion, but little of this precipitate is observed in the welded portion (Fig. 9).…”

“…For example, as shown in Table 1 minum and worsening its anticorrosion properties. On the other hand, when manganese is added to aluminum, Al 6 MnFe is produced. The natural potential of this compound is close to that of aluminum, and hence cathodes do not appear inside the aluminum.…”
