Preparation of Amidoxime Polyacrylonitrile Chelating Nanofibers and Their Application for Adsorption of Metal Ions

Abstract: Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning and they were modified with hydroxylamine to synthesize amidoxime polyacrylonitrile (AOPAN) chelating nanofibers, which were applied to adsorb copper and iron ions. The conversion of the nitrile group in PAN was calculated by the gravimetric method. The structure and surface morphology of the AOPAN nanofiber were characterized by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The adsor… Show more

“…Polyacrylonitrile modified fibers were investigated with a view to their practical application for selective sorption of ions of Cr(III) [13], Pd(II), Pt(IV) [14,15]. In this case, the authors of [10][11][12][13][14][15] resolve issues related only to quantitative characteristics of sorption processes, without identifying mechanisms of the process, stoichiometry of resulting complexes.…”

“…Thus, authors [10][11][12] studied processes of adsorption of copper(II) on the modified polyacrylonitrile nano-fiber by the method of atomic adsorption. “…To generate high quantities of fine pores desirable for lithium-ion diffusion to perform the charge− discharge behavior while with excellent physical integrity, a network of ultrafine and nanoscale fibers produced by electrospinning is a viable option. 18,19 Our group has proved that coaxial electrospinning is a simple and low-cost approach to achieve core/shell nanofibers, and the core/shell structure can be manipulated by selectively adjusting solution properties and operating parameters. 20 Here, cellulose acetate was extracted and purified from waste cigarette filter tips, and was coaxially electrospun with PVDF-HFP to prepare a cellulosebased core/shell nanofiber membrane.…”
