Preparation of Chitosan Coated Magnetic Hydroxyapatite Nanoparticles and Application for Adsorption of Reactive Blue 19 and Ni2+Ions

Abstract: An adsorbent called chitosan coated magnetic hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (CS-MHAP) was prepared with the purpose of improvement for the removal of Ni2+ ions and textile dye by coprecipitation. Structure and properties of CS-MHAP were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Weight percent of chitosan was investigated by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The prepared CS-MHAP presents … Show more

“…Natural polysaccharide chitosan, a derivative of chitin [8][9] has been known for its unique properties due to the existence of high content of amino and hydroxyl functional groups in its molecules that contribute in the process of adsorption [10]. Moreover, chitosan is a nontoxic, biodegradable, and biocompatible polymer, which can be used as a wound dressing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery systems [11].…”

“…Hidroksiapatit toksik olmaması, düşük çözünürlüğü ve stabil olması gibi özelliklerinde dolayı metal ve renk adsorpsiyonunda yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır [6,7]. Yapılan çalışmalarda, hidroksiapatit veya katkılı hidroksiapatit kullanılarak adsorpsiyon prosesi ile renk gideriminde olumlu sonuçlar alınmıştır [6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…Having a chemical composition of Ca 10 (PO 4 ) 6 (OH) 2 , which is similar to the composition of human bones, synthetic HAP has been used in healing or recovery of broken bones [1]. Recently, considerable research were carried out on combining HAP with magnetic nanoparticle [2][3][4][5]. Magnetic nanoparticle has been developed to be applied in some biomedical field due to its magnetic properties that can support diagnostic as well as therapeutic process.…”
