Microencapsulation of neroline inside microcapsules having a polyurethane shell based on β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and hexane diisocyanate was performed by interfacial polycondensation. The polyol nature of β-CD caused tight crosslinking of microcapsules wall. Microcapsules of neroline were characterized for their chemical composition and structure of the polyurethane shell by FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, optical and electron microscopy, light scattering and electrophoresis measurements. Core content and encapsulation yield were 15% and 60%, respectively. Spherical microcapsules of mean diameter 29 μm were slightly cationic with an isoelectric point of 6.3. Neroline-loaded microcapsules were fixed on cotton fabric using an impregnation technique. The functionalized fabric showed improved resistance to washing cycles in comparison with previously reported diol-based microcapsules. Such microcapsules display great potential for the long-lasting release of fragrance in the framework of cosmetotextile.

In this study, we prepared monosultap microcapsules in an inverse emulsion through interfacial polymerization for the first time. The microcapsules are spherical pellets with intact and smooth shell and have a narrow particle size distribution with an average size of about 2.35 μm. More importantly, our microcapsules have excellent thermal stability with a starting decomposition temperature of 233.1 C, high encapsulation efficiency of 81.9% as well as long-term slow release of monosultap under different conditions. In addition, the shell of the microcapsules can degrade completely in the natural condition, avoiding the pollution to the environment. It can be believed that our microcapsules will show good service performance if employed in agricultural industry.

ABSTARCT: The present survey shows that microcapsules are used as effective tools for modification and functionalization of fibrous products. The core and shell materials of microcapsules can comprise various active ingredients in accordance with different requirements of final fibrous products. In this survey, the morphology, functional properties and added values of microcapsules, also such advanced types as nanocapsules, bi-, multifunctional microcapsules, and their applications in smart and other modern products are described. Some relevant applications of microcapsules in industrial processes are briefly discussed. The techniques used to encapsulate the core ingredients are also overviewed. and Portugal. She is the scientific expert of several organizations and the author/coauthor of more than 150 scientific works.
