Preparation of Indium Tin Oxide Nanoparticle‐modified 3‐Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane‐functionalized Indium Tin Oxide Electrode for Electrochemical Sulfide Detection

Abstract: A sulfide sensor based on an indium tin oxide nanoparticle (ITONP)‐modified ITO electrode was developed. To prepare ITONP‐modified ITO, various methods were tested. Drop‐drying of ITONPs (aq.) on aminopropyltrimethoxysilane‐functionalized ITO (APTMS/ITO) was found to be the best method on the basis of voltammetric analysis of the sulfide ion. ITONP‐modified APTMS/ITO (ITONP/APTMS/ITO) yielded much better electrocatalytic properties toward sulfide electro‐οxidation than did bare or APTMS/ITO electrodes. The ITO… Show more

“…Interestingly, the small clusters were distributed homogeneously across the surface (they did not aggregate as big cluster in certain areas). The big cluster formation of NPs in certain areas on a bare solid substrate during immobilization via drop‐drying methods is very common and prohibits use of this method in many applications . The homogenous distribution of NiONPs (as small cluster) on the FPCE may have resulted from the presence of the micro‐nanostructured cavities on the FPCE.…”

“…Aziz et al. also prepared a ITONP‐modified, 3‐aminopropyltrimethoxysilane‐functionalized ITO electrode (ITONPs/APTMS/ITO) for direct electro‐oxidation of sulfide [54] . The modified electrode demonstrated significantly better sensitivity for electro‐oxidation of sulfide than the bare ITO electrode.…”
