Preparation of ITO Nanoparticles by Liquid Phase Coprecipitation Method

Abstract: The nanoscale indium tin oxide (ITO) particles are synthesied by liquid phase coprecipitation method under given conditions with solution of indium chloride, tin chloride, and ammonia. The absolute ethyl alcohol or deionized water was used as solvent and the dodecylamine or hexadecylamine surfactant was used as a dispersant in the reaction system. The sample powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM). Based on the… Show more

“…Moreover, the sizes of the ITO nanospheres can be readily controlled by variation of the thicknesses of the ITO films. Ding et al 15 synthesized nanoscale ITO particles with a distribution of particle size of 30-90 nm by liquid-phase coprecipitation method under given conditions with solutions of indium chloride, tin chloride, ammonia, and two kinds of surfactants as dispersants. In the consideration of a fast and inexpensive fabrication method, the wet-chemical deposition of ITO nanoparticles as an alternating approach should be preferred.…”

“…Hydrothermal method on the other hand requires high reaction temperature and pressure yielding homogeneous, uniform & large sized and quality crystalline nanomaterials [27][28][29][30]. Sol-gel method is a self-propagating low temperature ignition process that produces fine and homogeneous nanomaterials.…”
