Preparation of Silver Antibacterial Agents with Different Forms and Their Effects on the Properties of Water-Based Primer on Tilia europaea Surface

Abstract: Micron silver particles prepared by the chemical reduction method, urea formaldehyde resin-coated nano-silver solution microcapsules, and nano-silver solution were used as three kinds of antibacterial agents. These were added to a water-based primer on the surface of Tilia europaea in contents of 1.0%, 4.0%, 7.0%, 10.0%, 13.0%, and 16.0%. In order to achieve the best comprehensive performance of the water-based primer, the mechanical, optical, and antibacterial properties of the three antibacterial coatings wi… Show more

“…Noble metal nanoparticles, mainly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been an attractive research subject due to their exceptional properties [ 1 ], such as biocompatibility, high surface area, quantum confinement, variable size, shape and structure (nanosphericals, nanorods, nanocubes and nanotriangles). AgNPs are extensively incorporated in various fields [ 2 ] such as in cosmetics [ 3 ], food packaging [ 4 ], bioengineering, biomedicine [ 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ] (biosensing, anticancer, antimicrobial, antileishmanial, antioxidant, medical treatment, drug delivery and cell imaging), catalysis [ 12 ], antimicrobial paints [ 13 ], surface cleaners, air and water disinfection [ 14 ] and wastewater treatment [ 15 ]. Various methods were successfully reported for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles including chemical and physical routes [ 16 ].…”

“…Consequently, the world of paints has also been recently affected by these studies [54][55][56][57][58]. For example, Lateef et al [59] investigated the efficiency of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as an antibacterial additive for enamel paint, while Deyà et al [60] and Barberia-Roque et al [61] studied the bactericidal effect of silver in acrylic water-based paint.…”

“…The P-value was used to determine whether a factor was significant. F crit represents the F value of the corresponding significance level [26]. When F crit is greater than F, there is no difference between the two sets of data.…”
