Preparation of SrTiO3 nanomaterial by a sol–gel-hydrothermal method

Abstract: A new synthetic route to obtain high-purity strontium titanate, SrTiO3, using the sol–gel-hydrothermal reaction of TiCl4 and a SrCl2 solution in an oxygen atmosphere has been developed. In the synthesized products the SrTiO3 nanoparticles are nearly spherical and decrease in size with the reaction time (48 h) down to a diameter of about 40 nm. The microstructure and composition of the as-synthesized samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), Raman spectroscopy, … Show more

“…S4D) the peak at 185, 340, 549 and 798 cm À1 was assigned as transverse optical TO 2 , TO 3 , TO 4 longitudinal optical LO 4 first-order modes, respectively while the intensities of the bands at 337, 674, and 722 cm À1 were ascribed to the second-order modes [50,51]. The TO 2 and TO 4 modes corresponded to polar modes, and that of TO 3 belongs to nonpolar modes.…”

“…[18][19][20][21] Oxygen vacancies in the structure play an important role in reactions involving dissociative O 2 activation 11,22,23 over oxide supports. [24][25][26][27][28][29][30] Several methods have been employed for the synthesis of these perovskite materials, such as sol-gel method, 31,32 solidstate reaction, 33 wet-chemical method, 34 combustion, 35 hydrothermal method, 36 etc. Among these, the hydrothermal method stands out due to its low-temperature requirements and lower cost of operation.…”

“…Barium strontium titanate (Ba,Sr)TiO 3 (BST), a typical ferroelectric material with a tetragonal structure, belongs to the family of (ABO 3 ) perovskites, composed of titanate, barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) and strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ) [1][2][3][4][5].Pure barium titanate ceramic undergoes a para-ferroelectric phase transition at 120 o C from cubic to tetragonal phase, while the strontium titanate, which has para-ferroelectric phase transition at 163 o C, is usually added into barium titanate in order to lower the Curie point (Tc) and to increase the room temperature dielectric constant of the material [6]. BST ferroelectrics exhibit high dielectric permittivity and have been widely investigated both in films and ceramics.…”
